The members of the Refugee Law Clinic Bonn e.V. make an important contribution to the organisation. The annual membership fees are an essential part of the organisation’s financing. Membership also signals idealistic support for the values of the organisation.

We differentiate between active membership and supporting membership.

Active membership

Active members pay an annual membership fee of €12 and are entitled to vote at the general meeting.

Supporting membership

The Refugee Law Clinic Bonn e.V. (RLC Bonn) is a non-profit organisation founded in the summer of 2023 by law students at the University of Bonn. The aim of the association is to support migrants, especially asylum seekers and refugees, by providing low-threshold and free legal advice and assistance with asylum hearings and visits to the authorities.

Both the substantive work in the form of advice, information provision and accompaniment to authorities, as well as all organisational tasks of the association are carried out by our volunteer members themselves.

The high demand from those seeking advice requires not only the willingness of many students to actively participate, but also a large circle of supporters who recognise the importance of our work and are determined to support it financially. Although the members of the association are involved free of charge, costs are incurred for the training of students, for the organisation of conferences as part of the network work, the provision of training and work materials, as well as for advertising measures and campaigns in the area of public relations. As the RLC Bonn does not receive any public funding, it relies on membership fees, private donations and foundation funds to finance its expenditure.

As a supporting member, you make an important contribution to financing our work and enable us to maintain and further expand our services in the future. Your willingness to provide long-term support gives us the planning security we need to be able to act with foresight. It is therefore also thanks to the help of our supporting members that we are able to realise and spread the idea of free legal advice for refugees.

As every bit of help counts, our supporting members decide for themselves how much they would like to pay. The standard amount is 60 euros (reduced rate 30 euros) per year.

You can deduct your supporting membership contribution from your tax bill. We will be happy to issue you with a donation receipt on request. However, up to an amount of 200 euros, it is usually sufficient to submit a bank statement to the tax office.
